A 4th of July cake, adorned with red, white, and blue decorations, creates a festive and visually striking dessert that embodies the joyous celebration of Independence Day, serving as a delicious centerpiece that brings together friends and family to commemorate the ideals of freedom and democracy.
With each slice, there is a celebration not only of independence but also of the diversity that enriches our communities. As people gather around the cake, it serves as a reminder of the power of unity in diversity and the ongoing pursuit of justice and liberty for all.
2 and 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup softened butter
1 and 3/4 cups sugar
5 large egg whites
1/2 cup sour cream
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup red white and blue sprinkles
2 cups unsalted butter
5 cups powdered sugar
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 Tbsps. Heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup red white and blue sprinkles
Red and blue g food coloring
Preheat the oven to 350°F
Grease 3 6” pans
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
In a mixer beat the butter on high until smooth
Add the sugar and beat until combined.
Add the egg whites. Beat on high speed until combined, scrape down sides as needed.
Add the sour cream and vanilla extract.
Ads dry ingredients until just incorporated.
On low speed slowly add in the milk until combined. Do not overmix.
Stir in sprinkles.
Divide batter equally into pans.
Bake for 25 minutes
Cool completely before frosting
Beat butter until smooth
Add salt and vanilla extract. Mix.
Add one cup of powdered sugar at a time, mixing well in between.
Add heavy cream and mix on high for 5 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
Keep approximately 2 cups frosting out and color 1 cup frosting red and 1 cup frosting blue
With the teaming white frosting, Add sprinkles and stir with a wooden spoon to combine and remove any air bubbles.
When cakes are completely cooled, stack and frost with white sprinkle frosting
Prepare two piping bags, one with blue frosting and one with red.
Get the piping tips you want to use. (I used Kootek piping tips numbers K19, K01, K33, K27, and K23
Pipe borders, ruffles etc. onto your cake. The design is up to you, have fun and try different things to get the look you want!
