Supplies Needed:

Frosting
Food coloring
Toothpick
Kootek turntable
Kootek cake scraper
Kootek offset spatula
Kootek Piping tips: K34, K61, K04, K14, K46, K03, K01, K11, K13, K55, K36, K49, K20, K49, K22, K23, K28, etc.
Piping bags
Kootek piping couplers
Buttercream
Frost your cake in white buttercream or the color of your choice and smooth it using the Kootek offset spatula and cake scraper. Allow to chill completely until touching the frosting will no longer cause transfer.
Fit a piping bag with a Kootek coupler and fill it with frosting. Repeat for all desired colors of frosting. (orange, yellow, brown, black, green, blue, red, white, etc.)
Using a toothpick sketch out your design into the chilled buttercream until you have a general outline of where you would like your tree, pumpkins, and scarecrow to be.
Now you are ready to decorate! Start by piping with a Kootek piping tip K04 and K14 in long strokes to create the branches of your tree, then use a K23 and K13 piping tips to create some fall colored leaves on the tree.
Next create your scarecrow by piping and filling in your sketch. I use a Kootek K01 and K11 to bring our cute scarecrow to life so he can watch over our pumpkin patch.
■ Pro Tip: Go section by section filling in the shirt, pants, hat, etc.
with piped even color then using an offset spatula warmed in a cupof hot water to smooth the buttercream and achieve a professional
look.
To create our pumpkins and harvest ready gourds use lots of different Kootek piping tips to play around and enjoy how each tip gives each pumpkin a unique look.
■ Tips I loved using for this were: K01, K47, K46, K37, K34, K61, K05, K011, etc.
Finally add your finishing touches including stems to your pumpkins and gourds, green vines trailing from pumpkins, leaves, grass, and a border around the top and bottom edge of the cake sprinkled with more fall colored leaves using a piping tip such as the K13.
■ Remember! Don't worry about perfection, focus on having fun and being creative when decorating!
