Prep your cake; you will need either two bundt cakes the same size or three round cake layers carved into a cauldron shape. Stack, fill, and crumbcoat your cakes then chill until your crumb coat until is completely set.
While the cake chills create the witch's hat, legs, shoes, and broom out of fondant. Attach the shoes to the legs with a little bit of water then allow each piece to dry in the open air while you continue to decorate your cake.
■ Build the legs and broom around the lollipop sticks to provide
structure and rigidity.
■ Use a Kootek K01 piping tip to cut out the perfect sized polkadots for your witch's legs.
Frost your cake in black buttercream, or the color of your choice, then smooth it using the Kootek offset spatula and cake scrapers. Allow to chill completely until touching the frosting will no longer cause transfer.
■ Additional Tips:
1. Apply the frosting with a piping bag, no piping tip required, for easy application.
2. Use your metal spatulas dipped into hot water to easily smooth the buttercream and create a glossy smooth finish.
Carefully fill the decorating pen with frosting and secure a tip of your choice. Draw swirls, dots, and design of your choice on the bottom half of your cauldron. Refill frosting in the pen as needed.
■ Feel free to take inspiration from the example, but don't worry about copying exactly what I chose to do, have fun experimenting with different designs and ideas until you are happy with it!
While the cake chills again, fit a reusable piping bag with a Kootek coupler and fill it with green frosting.
Use a Kootek K01, K41, or K11 to pipe round orbs filling the cauldron. I liked piping a couple spilling over the sides as well as bubbles over the top.
Once satisfied with your bubbling cauldron carefully add your witch's legs, broom, and hat.
■ Create a lifted effect with the hat by adding some additional buttercream underneath the brim of the hat and securing it with lollipop sticks.
Finally make sure to take lots of pictures of your awesome cake, share it with us.
