This cake is all about bright summer fun! The colorful stripes make it playful and eye-catching, while the rosette cascade adds beautiful texture and that “wow” factor.
What I love most is the mix of piping tips—each one brings something different to the design, and when used together, it gives that full, festive summer vibe and the striped background lets the cake really stand out.
This cake was such a joy to make. It’s cheerful, colorful, and surprisingly easy when you break it down step by step. A few piping tips and a splash of color go a long way!
If you try this look, I would love to see your version!
Piping tips you will need:
K01 & K11 – Small Round Tips
K26 – Pink Rosettes
K47 – Blue Rosettes
K48 – Yellow Rosettes
K26 – Drop Flowers
Whipped cream
To create my striped base, I used Kootek's cake comb, the one with evenly spaced teeth. I first smoothed my cake with a white whipped cream layer and then ran the comb around the sides while turning the turntable. This created perfect grooves for my colors to sit in.
Once chilled, I filled the grooves by piping colored whipped cream directly into each stripe: pink, blue and yellow. I smoothed everything with a spatula to blend the stripes evenly.
Tips K01 & K11 – Small Round Tips: These were perfect for piping the stripes into each groove. I used them to apply each color one
at a time. No perfection needed here, it smooths out beautifully later on!
Tip K26 – Pink Rosettes: I started with the pink rosettes first, placing them diagonally across the cake to create a soft guide for the floral flow.
Tip K47 – Blue Rosettes: Next, I filled in with bright blue rosettes using K47. These added the boldest contrast and helped bring the design to life.
Tip K48 – Yellow Rosettes: Then I piped the cheerful yellow rosettes to brighten the overall look and add that sunshine feel.
Tip K26 – Drop Flowers: To finish the floral design, I created colorful drop flowers using K26. For these, I added all three colors—yellow, pink, and blue—into one piping bag without fully mixing them. This gave each flower a fun, “tie-dye” look that added beautiful texture and movement to the cascade.
I started at the bottom corner and worked my way up in a diagonal swoop, alternating the colors to create balance and fullness. The multi-colored drop flowers were perfect for filling in little gaps between the rosettes.
To bring it all to life, I scattered bright pink and pastel sprinkles across the top and throughout the cascade. It added just the right amount of sparkle and fun!
