Kootek Retro-Style Christmas Door Cake

Directions

1. Prep your cake; you will need a small round cake. You will then need to stack, fill, and crumbcoat your cakes. Allow it to chill until your crumb coat is completely set.

2. Frost your cake in white buttercream and smooth it using the Kootek offset spatula and cake scraper. Allow to chill.

3. While the cake chills melt your green chocolate melts and pour the melted chocolate into your silicone mold. Carefully wiggle the silicone mold to alleviate any air bubbles, being careful not to spill any of the melted chocolate. Place in the fridge to set.

4. Fit a piping bag with a Kootek coupler and fill it with frosting. Repeat for all desired colors of frosting small enough for a coupler. For larger tips forgo the coupler. (Colors used; green, pink etc.)

5. Carefully remove your set door from the mold and secure your chocolate door onto the cake with a bit of buttercream.

6. Now you are ready to decorate! Begin by piping shell swags on the front side of the cake using a K16 piping tip and pink buttercream. Repeat just above the original swags with a K15 piping tip.

7. Pipe a large shell board at the base of the cake with green buttercream and a Kootek T17 piping tip then a smaller shell border directly on top of the larger one with a Kootek K67 piping tip.

8. Using a Kootek piping tip K47 pipe a border around the door.

9. Then use a Kootek piping tip T15 to create 6-8 buttercream trees on top of the cake in a ring on the outer edge. Decorate the green buttercream with pearl sprinkles as you see fit.
